About Hellen


Hellen has more than 25 years of experience working to improve the mental health of children, adolescents and adults. She works in collaboration with family doctors, psychiatrists, schools, lawyers, mediators and other healthcare professionals.

Hellen received her B.S.c. in psychology and a Masters in Clinical Social Work, specializing in mental health, from the University of Toronto. She received her initial training at Toronto's Sunnybrook Hospital's Child and Adolescent Mental Health program. She worked for more than a decade at Trillium Health Centre's Child and Adolescent Mental Health department and then Halton Healthcare in their outpatient mental health program. She launched her private practice over ten years ago.


Hellen's Experience


Her lifelong training continues with participation in programs, retreats and seminars. She has trained and utilizes skills in mindfulness meditation, emotionally focused marital therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, interpersonal and psychodynamic therapy, dialectical skills, play therapy, clinical hypnosis and trauma based treatment such as Traumatic Incident Reduction.

She has published articles on mental health issues in some of Canada's largest newspapers. Hellen has been accepted by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice as an expert in mental health issues, and is often consulted by senior legal counsel on cases involving depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, post traumatic stress disorder, mental and physical abuse, human rights discrimination on the basis of disability, employment disputes and criminal matters.

Hellen meets with each client and assesses in collaboration with the client what is needed and formulates a treatment plan
